EtymologyFeaturesS. sprattus is a small elongated bodied fish. Its body colour is silver with a darker shade on the back and a white belly. Size : 10 cm | Weight : kg EcologyWhite bait spends most of its life in the open sea. During the winter months when the water temperature is low they form shoals at depths of 100m, whereas in autumn they rarely live below depths of 40m.
