Thyrsites - Resemble a straight staff
Atun - Meaning obscure

Features

Snoek have a bluish - silver, elongated body covered with
extremely fine scales and a large mouth with triangular teeth.

Size : 75 cm | Weight : 3 kg

Ecology

Generally found in coastal waters, but also occurs offshore to depths of about 550m (Benthopelagic fish)
Feed on small fish, such as pilchards and anchovies, as well as on squid and pelagic crustaceans.

Distribution

Snoek are targeted from Skeleton coast all the way to Fish River and it's mostly caught with hand - lines from ski boats.

Regulation

Minimum legal size - 60cm in length
Bag limit for recreational fishing - 10 per person.
